Stone Percussion® and Stone Percussion Books®
We're happy to announce that these two names are now registered trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office. As our titles come up for reprint we will be adding the ® symbol to all of our books.
Stay tuned for more info on Technique of Percussion, a book of columns GL Stone wrote for International Musician magazine from 1946 to 1963. Our thanks to the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada for their permission to collect and reproduce these columns, and to W. Lee Vinson for his foreword. More news and excerpts soon!
NEW—Re-engraved!
An Old Lecture Brochure We found a wonderful old brochure from George Lawrence Stone advertising two of his music appreciation lectures. The full text of this can be found by clicking here.
Old photo of George Burt Stone—courtesy of Peter Emerick
Many thanks to Peter Emerick for bringing this great old photo to us. At far left is George Burt Stone (George Lawrence Stone's father) as a member of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia (MVM on his snare drum badge—this also seems to be the First Regiment MVM Drum & Fife and Bugle Corps). Thanks for a great find!
Also check W. Lee Vinson's site, The Boston Drum Builders, for extensive historical information and photos on the Stones and other historically prominent drum makers and percussionists in the Boston area.
